Year after year, we strive to balance how much the Power List changes. We want to maintain a level of consistency for the companies that are listed and for those who use this as a resource; however, we also wish to update the information and format to make sure the Power List remains a valuable tool. For 2022 and into 2023, we are finishing a process to eliminate duplicate entries in favor of having the right entry in the right place. This allows the companies listed to truly shine in their area of expertise while making it easier to navigate the many outstanding organizations listed herein.
In addition to our industry directories, you’ll find three ranked lists: The Top 49ers, which are the largest Alaskan-owned companies ranked by gross revenue; The Corporate 100, which are the largest employers ranked by number of Alaskan employees; and the Best of Alaska Business award winners, voted by our readers as being Alaska’s best in their field. Some of our eagle-eyed readers may notice employee figures or other comparable numbers don’t exactly match up between these lists. The answer is that they have been placed here exactly as originally published, to preserve the integrity of the rankings.
That about sums it up! Everything else you need to know, you can find in the Power List. Enjoy!

oday, more than ever, adaptability is crucial for business success. And it’s one of the key drivers of longevity for Arctic Information Technology (Arctic IT), which specializes in providing leading-edge technology solutions. A member of the Doyon Limited family of companies, Arctic IT was established in 2002 to serve Alaskans. Now the company—which also maintains offices in Texas, Washington, and Maryland—offers unique, scalable cloud-based business applications and security solutions nationwide. “Our ability to adapt and evolve ahead of our clients’ needs is one of the things that sets us apart,” says President and General Manager Dave Bailey.
A proud Microsoft Gold Partner for eighteen consecutive years, Arctic IT helps commercial, government, and Tribal organizations capitalize on the latest technology to solve complex issues. Rather than be vertically focused, Arctic IT provides Microsoft-enabled managed services and business application services for a wide variety of entivties, including oil field services companies, nonprofits, and Alaska Native Corporations. “Instead of being experts at one particular type of business, we focus on being experts in technology,” Bailey explains. “We can do managed cloud services for any type of company in any type of industry.”

hat’s the key objective of Quintillion Networks, the first and only telecommunications operator to build a subsea and terrestrial fiber optic cable network in the US Arctic.
With the capacity to deliver gigabit and terabit bandwidth, Quintillion’s network spans 1,200 miles of subsea fiber cable from Nome to Prudhoe Bay and 500 miles of terrestrial fiber cable from Prudhoe Bay to Fairbanks. The world-class system serves six Alaska markets: Nome, Kotzebue, Point Hope, Wainwright, Utqiaġvik, and Prudhoe Bay/Deadhorse—including the oil and gas infield. Quintillion delivers middle-mile backhaul services to last-mile service providers that supply broadband directly to customers.
