Madock
Alaska Communications hired a new top executive. The Anchorage-based telecom selected Courtland Madock as CEO and president. The former Anchorage telephone utility, now an affiliate of Massachusetts-based ATN International, brings Madock to Alaska from Chicago, where she was chief commercial officer for WOW!, a multistate internet provider. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Iowa and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. Hobbs
A former village corporation president has worked his way back up to top leadership. The Tatitlek Corporation (TTC) promoted Executive Vice President Dick Hobbs to become its new President. Prior to joining TTC, Hobbs was President and CEO of Afognak Native Corporation and its wholly owned subsidiary Alutiiq, LLC from 2006 to 2014. He joined the TTC Executive Management Team in 2018. Hobbs is a graduate of the US Naval Academy and served eight years in the US Navy. In 1996, he joined Chugach Alaska Corporation, and he started working for Afognak in 2000.Singletrack Advocates
Singletrack Advocates (STA) named George Pollock as its first Executive Director. STA Board President Lee Bolling says, “As STA’s first Executive Director, he’ll play a major role in shaping the next chapter of the organization, and we’re excited about what’s ahead.” Pollock arrived in Anchorage in 1993 and has logged countless hours of volunteer trail work. Since the nonprofit was established in 2004, STA has built more than 40 miles of singletrack at Kincaid Park, Hillside Park, and Chugach State Park.Coffman Engineers
Multidiscipline engineering firm Coffman Engineers promoted a pair of Associates in its Anchorage office to recognize their technical depth and sustained contributions.
Lee Bolling has nineteen years of experience as a project manager, design team leader, and lead mechanical engineer on energy projects, including fourteen years with Coffman. His background includes biomass facilities, battery energy storage, and alternative energy feasibility studies.
Martin Miller, whose twenty-two years of experience in design and project management includes twelve years at Coffman, is also promoted to Associate. Miller’s focus has been electric utility infrastructure, and he has experience with HVAC and plumbing design for federal, commercial, and industrial clients.
R&M Consultants
Civil engineering, surveying, and environmental firm R&M Consultants hired new staff.
Azarsepandan
Aryan Azarsepandan joins R&M’s Construction Services Department as Engineering Associate, focusing on construction administration, documentation, and construction management software implementation to support transportation and infrastructure projects. Prior to joining R&M, Azarsepandan worked for the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities. Azarsepandan holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from UAA. He is a licensed pilot and a certified erosion and sediment control lead.
Avirett
Dylan Avirett joins R&M as Staff Geologist in the Earth Sciences Department, where he conducts field investigations, soil and rock sampling, core logging, and technical reporting. Avirett has experience with government agencies, private industry, and academic research programs, including the UAA geology department and the Alaska Division of Geological and Geophysical Surveys. His background includes soil and rock sampling, core logging, geospatial analysis, and geological research. Avirett holds a bachelor’s degree in geological sciences from UAA. He also served six years in the US Army Reserves.Coastal Villages Region Fund
The largest Alaskan-owned seafood company has some new leaders.
Souza
Coastal Villages Region Fund (CVRF) promoted Nick Souza, previously director of sales and marketing, to CEO. Souza has worked in key leadership roles for twenty years at CVRF, a nonprofit that pools the Community Development Quotas of twenty villages in Southwest.
Weber
CVRF also welcomed back Patrick Weber as Crab Operations and Longline Sales Manager, overseeing Bering Sea crab shares while also leading longline cod sales. Weber’s first stint with CVRF in 2016 to 2019 was as a seafood sales representative. He then worked in sales, logistics, and processing operations, most recently for Bristol Wave seafoods. He holds a mathematics degree from Western Washington University.Holland America Princess
Fowler
Micaela Fowler is promoted to VP of Government Affairs for Holland America Line and Princess in Alaska. Fowler joined HAP a year ago as the director of Southeast government and community relations. She previously served in state government as Deputy Commissioner of the Alaska Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic Development. Fowler is a graduate of UAS with a bachelor’s degree in social science.Rasmuson Foundation
Rasmuson Foundation named two new Directors of Programs, who both supervise program officers throughout the state’s largest philanthropic organization.
Spatrisano
Issa Spatrisano is promoted from her previous position as Program Officer. Spatrisano joined the foundation in 2025, and she previously served as the State of Alaska’s refugee coordinator. Spatrisano holds a bachelor’s degree in history and political science from Western Michigan University and a master’s degree in teaching and learning from UAA.
Clark
Sara Clark comes to Rasmuson Foundation with executive leadership experience spanning both nonprofit and government sectors. She earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in public health, both at UAA. Koplin
Matanuska Electric Association’s current CEO, Tony Izzo, is retiring in January, and moving forward the utility co-op will be led by Clay Koplin, who has been CEO of Cordova Electric Cooperative for almost twenty years. A professional electrical engineer with an MBA from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University, Koplin brings extensive experience in Alaska electric systems. Izzo is working alongside Koplin through the transition.
