RG Industrial exemplifies a company forged through growth, consolidation, and innovation. In February 2023, Alaska Rubber Group rebranded to ARG Industrial, marking a pivotal moment in its evolution. The company’s new moniker pays homage to its Alaska roots while being inclusive of its growth and expansion into industrial sectors beyond hose and fittings. The rebranding unified the company’s subsidiary trade names under one banner, enhancing clarity for customers and employees.

Founded in 1980 as Alaska Rubber and Supply Inc. in Anchorage, the company has experienced steady growth and various name changes. In 2006, Alaska Rubber Group emerged, and the business became 100 percent employeeowned. Today ARG Industrial boasts five locations in Alaska, eight locations in the Pacific Northwest, and more than 200 employees.

Despite the growth and evolution, ARG Industrial remains dedicated to its core values. Customers can continue to expect the same exceptional service and products, along with resources spanning the entire Pacific Northwest. “We have locations in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, so there’s a lot more inventory, services, and capabilities brought to bear for the customer,” says President and CEO Mike Mortensen.”

KEY PRIORITIES
ARG Industrial’s main product lines include hose and fittings for hydraulic, industrial, food and beverage, chemical, and petroleum applications. The company also specializes in lifting and rigging products like wire rope, chain, synthetic slings, and hardware used in construction, mining, and the petroleum industry. “Everywhere you see a crane operating, we have products that service those markets,” Mortensen says.

One of ARG Industrial’s notable achievements is its successful digital transformation. The company launched the industry’s first online assembly configuration engine, enabling customers to self-serve and access the “secret sauce” of its traditional customer service and salespeople. “We’ve become the technology leader in the hose and fitting space, and that’s nice to see in a homegrown Alaska company that started very small,” he says.

At the heart of ARG Industrial’s success are its dedicated employees. Many are long-tenured employees who have moved up the ranks—employees like Mortensen, who started with the company thirty years ago as a delivery driver. “When customers contact one of our team members,” he says, “they’re dealing with an owner and somebody who really cares about the future of that relationship.”

Safety is a top priority for ARG Industrial. The company goes above and beyond to ensure that the products it supplies are reliable and safe. This includes working with the best manufacturers, maintaining rigorous quality control standards, providing thorough training for employees, and educating customers about the potential risks of misusing or misapplying products.

STRATEGY FOR FUTURE GROWTH PARTNERSHIPS
ARG Industrial is committed to providing customers with high-quality products and services while enhancing financial security for employees through strategic acquisitions and the establishment of new facilities. This will further solidify its position as a trusted resource where professionals go for hose and rigging solutions. Mortensen says, “We not only have the products they need, but we have the expertise and service to provide added value as distributors.”
