or thirty years, Structured Communication Systems, Inc. has assisted clients through all phases of digital transformation by securely bridging people, business, and technology. Structured provides design guidance, engineering assistance, and product recommendations that adhere to best practices, boost return on investment, and—most importantly—maximize information security and regulatory compliance.

Structured’s cloud-connected, digital infrastructure and managed information technology (IT) services encompass implementing security enhancements, streamlining data center operations, designing multicloud architectures, simplifying infrastructure management, resolving clients’ network errors, and enabling their digital transformation opportunities. Soon, it will launch new data analytics and process automation services to help companies better leverage their data to make smarter business decisions.

“We help companies of every size and in every business vertical build secure and performant IT networks and phone systems that support their business goals and enable an efficient workforce,” says Alaska Territory Director Danny Maxwell.”

LONG HISTORY IN ALASKA
With humble beginnings in 1992 in Clackamas, Oregon, Structured has offices nationwide and nearly 160 employees—about a dozen of whom are based in Alaska. Structured has operated from its current Anchorage location on B Street since 2005, but its physical presence began in December of 2003.

In Alaska, Structured has conducted extensive business with Alaska Native organizations and private businesses. Recently, it entered into an agreement with the Alaska Municipal League to offer services at very competitive rates to all qualified public entities in the state.

“Although Structured’s headquarters might be located out of state, we are a long-time Alaska company with local employees and an Alaska-based customer list that spans this great state,” Maxwell says. “As such, we care very deeply about the success of the state’s public and private enterprises and its workforce—particularly with regard to their cybersecurity, regulatory compliance, and business resilience.”

ADAPTING AND STAYING CURRENT
Many providers sell hardware and software, but few offer the higher-level expertise, business insight, and professional services that Structured does. To accomplish this, the company has invested heavily in developing highly trained and certified engineers—many of whom have worked there for multiple decades. Structured constantly adapts its services to accommodate impactful trends and new technologies to remain current. “As new vendors come to market with proven technologies, we establish partner agreements with them so that we are authorized to sell their products, giving our customers access to the broadest range of networking and communications technology possible,” Maxwell explains.

As a testament to its exceptional industry expertise and business performance, Structured received the coveted CRN Triple Crown in 2023 for being included on the Tech Elite 250, SP 500, and Fast Growth 150 lists. Even more remarkable, the firm’s managed services practice has garnered elite Service Organization Control (SOC) 2 Type 2 status from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants annually since 2021.

“We are a reliable, trusted, and stable resource for Alaska companies that need to procure IT networking and communications hardware, software, and services including cybersecurity, GRC [governance, risk management, and compliance], and managed services,” Maxwell says.
